Biblical Scholar.
Streeter was educated at the University of Oxford and spent his career teaching there. Towards the end of his life, he was influenced by Frank buchman and the Oxford Group and he also became interested in Buddhism. He is remembered, however, for his New Testament scholarship, in particular The Four Gospels. In this he argued that mark’s Gospel was the first to be written and that matthew and luke had access both to Mark’s Gospel and to a sayings source, now lost, but known as Q. This has become the received wisdom for students of the New Testament today.
